Stamina

I agree the Perkins' idea that the stamina is essential for leaders and for their action. In the book ,Perkins totally disagree to the idea that "A leader needs to be there 100 percent or not at all-even if it means sacrificing your health;that's what it means to be a leader.", but I think this is partly true. Once a person become the leader, the person should think of the whole organization, not only him/herself. Of course it has great importance that leaders must take care of themselves, but in order to become the good model for other members leaders may be required more than they can do easily. Leaders' works and duties are essentially additional to basic works and duties as a member of a team. So good right hand man is necessary for leaders so that leaders can share their burden.

  1. Hi Yuta,

This is a good point about how leaders need to do more than they might otherwise be comfortable doing. Leaders need to essentially do more than anyone else in order to gain the respect of the group. But Perkins is saying they have to take care of themselves too—otherwise they don't last very long!
